Eddie Izzard rallies Brighton Labour Party activists

Eddie Izzard played Brighton last night when the surreal comedian visited Labour activists to lend his support.

Izzard attended a pep talk before canvassing in Walpole Road and told party workers: “I had not joined any party in the past but now I have.

“I want to ensure a Labour victory.”

The comedian cheered activists working on behalf of Brighton Kemptown Labour candidate Simon Burgess, the former leader of Brighton and Hove City Council.

Mr Burgess said: “You can make a difference in a vital marginal seat and get to meet a great stand-up comic, actor, multi-marathon runner and Labour supporter.”

His main opponents are Simon Kirby, for the Conservatives, Ben Duncan for the Greens and Juliet Williams, for the Lib Dems.
