A private funeral followed by a public memorial for a University of Sussex student found dead last week will be held today.
Family and close friends will attend Chris Hatton’s funeral this morning, and a short service of thanksgiving will be held in the university’s Meeting House at midday.
Chris’s family hope that all his friends and colleagues will join them, and have asked that people wear bright colours in recognition of Chris’s outgoing and happy nature.
As part of the service, people will be asked to write down a memory of Chris, or a message for his family, and these will be collated into a book of condolence.
The service will be followed by a tree-planting ceremony in the grounds close by, and then a lunch in the Meeting House Quiet Room.
