A Brighton film director’s first feature-length film is to be screened in the town where it was set and filmed.
Down Terrace was directed by Ben Wheatley, the writer and director of BBC comedy sketch show The Wrong Door.
The film, set and largely shot in Brighton, is to be screened at the Duke of York’s in Preston Circus, Brighton, on Sunday and Monday.
The cinema has already screened Down Terrace. It was shown last November during the Cine-City Film Festival.
The film has already won a number of prizes including best film at the Raindance film festival last year and a grand jury prize at the international film festival in Boston.
One reviewer described the 89-minute film as resembling a crime thriller directed by Mike Leigh, while another called it a dark Sopranos.
The plot centres on a criminal family trying to work out who landed the father and son in court. The violent reprisals are leavened with humour.
