First Capital Connect has thanked passengers for their custom and patience ahead of handing the Brighton to Bedford line to Govia on Sunday.
FCC will cease operating the Bedford to Brighton/Wimbledon and Sutton Thameslink route at 2am on Sunday, 14 September.
Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) will take over, with the train services being run under the names of ‘Thameslink’
FCC Managing Director David Statham said: “We are committed to helping our passengers through this change. This is why our website will still be open until at least19 October for queries about travel made before the transition to the new franchise, including any questions and also information about delay-repay travel compensation and other refunds.
“There has been a huge amount of change during our franchise which has delivered a lot of improvements and I would to thank our passengers for their patience and custom throughout.
“It’s been an exciting time – not without its challenges for ourselves and our passengers but with massive capacity improvement schemes on both routes and a raft of other improvements.”
FCC says its achievements during its contract include 29% more peak Thameslink seats, the extension of 20-25% discounted weekend fares to all journeys starting or finishing outside London, the @FirstCC Twitter account and helping to cut crime by 37% through £1m a year police funding and CCTV.
How do you think they did?
