The continuing revamp of the area around Brighton Station will see Terminus Road and part of Junction Road closed for a week from Monday.
From 5am on Monday 6 July, Terminus Road and Junction Road southbound will be closed until Monday 13 July, to all traffic except taxis.
The closure is part of a major programme to rework the roads around the station, which has seen pavements widened and trees planted in Queen’s Road and Surrey Street.
The current work is to repave the area in front of the station, and provide a direct pedestrian link from the station to Queen’s Road without having to negotiate taxis. Work is due to be completed this summer.
During next week’s road closures, all bus services will divert from Seven Dials via Bath Street, Dyke Road, Buckingham Road to Upper Gloucester Road. At the bottom of Upper Gloucester Road will be temporary traffic lights as services will then travel straight over into Queens Road and proceed on normal route.
All southbound stops at Brighton Station will be suspended and a temporary stop will be located southbound outside Tesco’s on Queens Road.
Service 78/79 towards Stanmer Park and Ditchling Beacon from the Clock Tower will use Dyke Road and join the diversion at Buckingham Road.
Meanwhile, North Street will be closed overnight on Monday for line painting and road surface treatment. The nightbus services N7, N12, N14 and N25 will be diverted along the seafront.
