A fire at a Brighton hotel is being treated as deliberate following a fire investigation, the fire service has announced.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called out at 7.12pm on Sunday to the Royal Albion Hotel on Old Steine following reports of a fire on the fifth floor.
Eight fire engines plus several ambulances and police cars attended the scene, which led to the closure of the Old Steine for some time. One person was rescued from a flat roof.
The fire service said yesterday: “A fire investigation has taken place today (5 June 2017) and it is believed the fire was started deliberately.
“No further comment will be made at this stage.”
