Internationally acclaimed Danish musicians Michala Petri and Lars Hannibal are to perform in the 2018 Butterfly Concert series organised by Sussex based composer and musician Stephanie Cant.
The evening at the Bishop Hannington Church on Saturday, April 21st, marks a welcome return to Sussex for the duo after many years.
Michala is recognised as one of the world’s leading performers on the recorder and its development from Baroque into contemporary and improvised music. A concert at the BBC when she was just 17 led to her first recording with the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, and since then she has worked with many leading conductors and composers, won numerous awards and made over 70 recordings.
The musical partnership with guitarist Hannibal started in 1992. The duo has performed in over 1,500 concerts worldwide and established their own remarkable and spontaneous musical style. They will perform a wide range of compositions from classical composers including Bach and Handel to modern tango by Astor Piazzolla.
The concert at the Bishop Hannington Church, Holmes Avenue, Hove, starts at 7pm and tickets are available online in advance from https://petrihannibalconcert.brownpapertickets.com/ at £17, or £8 for children and full time students. They will also be available on the door at £20 full price and £10 for concessions.
