If you like your music on the fast raw edgy side, then you might just want to head to the Prince Albert below Brighton’s main railway station at 8pm on Saturday 7th July.
On the bill that night will be The Crippens, Armoured Flu Unit (AFU) and Combat Shock.
The Crippens are the 21st century re-incarnation of Dr & The Crippens, who were the British hardcore band from Lancaster, who became known for unusual costumes and innovative use of stage props during their live shows, which included frequent use of an exploding head. Dr & The Crippens recorded two sessions for legendary BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel on 8th May 1988 and 16th July 1989.
The Crippens will next month be releasing their first new recordings for 25 years, in the form of a six track 12” EP titled ‘The Minnow And The Pike’. The record will be available in normal black vinyl, however the band have produced 100 coloured vinyl versions on a first come first served basis – grab yours HERE. It should hit the streets on 27th July.

Hampshire/Wiltshire’s Armoured Flu Unit are sometimes described as AnarchoThugOi! They are four like minded individuals, Nath Haywire (vocals), Iain Influx (guitar), Danny Burch (bass) and Andy Morris (drums) who got together as a result of continued frustrations and anger against our planet and people. Just the right ingredients needed in order to perform their visceral punk rock.

You can always expect fast furious punk rock from Brighton based Combat Shock who reformed after 10 years absence in 2016, when singer Mel and ‘pots and pans (in the home and on stage) specialist’ husband Sonny had downed a few beers and sensibly decided it might be nice to do a 10 year ‘memorial’ gig as a one off. It was truly meant to be just that! However, within 24 hours of playing, the band had been offered two gigs, ‘Get on With it Fest’ in Brighton and ‘Rebellion’ in Blackpool. In 2018, they are still on the case and now the guys can’t seem to stop! Lucky us!
