Farmland in Rottingdean was cordoned off after a suspected WWII bomb was discovered yesterday morning.
The army’s bomb squad was called to the field off Norton Drive but concluded it was empty and removed it.
A police spokesman said: “At about 9.06am on Tuesday (12 February), police were called after a device, suspected to be a Second World War bomb, was discovered on farm land off Norton Drive, Rottingdean.
“A small cordon was set up as a precaution and the EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) was requested to attend.
“The EOD concluded the device was empty and it was removed from the scene as of 1.19pm.”
