The Release – ‘Into The Woods’ by Hawkwind (Selected Video)
My old mates Hawkwind, 2017 album ‘Into the Woods’, 30th album by the space rock band, fave track at the moment if I get to listen to it all is ‘Into the Woods’, the lyrics are freaky but you wouldn’t expect anything else.

The Release – ‘Maid In England’ by Maid Of Ace (Selected Video)
It’s been three years since this was released and after seeing these four sisters play recently in their hometown of Hastings, this album was straight back on my playlist. Plenty of Punk energy to be had and I would urge you to catch them live this Friday at The Prince Albert.

The Release – ‘Uppers And Downers’ by The Yo-Yo’s (Selected Video)
The Yo-Yo’s debut full-length album is still an absolute classic overflowing with hard-rockin’ sing-a-longs. Do check out ‘Home From Home’, ‘Head Over Heels’ ‘Rumble(d)’ and the summer tune ‘Sunshine Girl’.

The Release – ‘When I Have Fears’ by The Murder Capital (Selected Video)
This week ‘When I Have Fears’ from The Murder Capital, obvious debt to Joy Division but enjoyably so.
Team Member – Guy Ramone
The Release – ‘Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables’ by Dead Kennedys (Selected Video)
Great first LP, speed, attitude, the correct politics and most of all fab groovers.

The Release – ‘Aladdin Sane’ by David Bowie (Selected Video)
After spending last weekend in the company of Absolute Bowie, it just has to be ‘Aladdin Sane’. The sixth studio album by Bowie, the follow-up to ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust’. I remember when this came out, dashing into town to buy it after school. I grabbed a silver vinyl copy recently and the songs are superb. This was on full blast whilst going through the photographs and video. An album everyone really should have, at least once or twice.

The Release – ‘Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange (Music From The Soundtrack)’ by Various Artists (Selected Video)
This week the soundtrack to ‘A Clockwork Orange’ Kubrick film by Walter (Wendy) Carlos. Great examples of Beethoven tracks done on early 70’s Moog synthesizers.

The Release – ‘Ministry Of House’ by Various Artists (Selected Video)
After a week of garage and dancing in the kitchen, I’ll need a week of house and chillin’ in the garden. And what great chunes to listen to during this brilliant summer weeks we’re having! Melodic, hypnotic and happy beats.

The Release – ‘Gone To Earth’ by Barclay James Harvest (Selected Video)
This week’s album is ‘Gone To Earth’ by Barclay James Harvest. An album of fine soft -prog (or ‘yacht rock’ as a friend of mine would describe it) from, of all years, 1977. It certainly wasn’t flavour of the month upon release, but it did include the classics ‘Hymn’ and ‘Poor Man’s Moody Blues’. The latter so entitled by the band because of its more than passing resemblance to ‘Nights In White Satin’. It’s an album that’s worth re-discovering.

The Release – ‘Keepers Of The Light’ by Stone Heroes (Selected Video)
My album this week is a brand new release from the Stone Heroes. My goodness this is an absolute stocker and I love it. Played this 3 times today and will be playing the rest of the week. Best tracks from my view are all of them but particularly these ‘What Do You Know’, ‘Last Post’ and ‘Keeper Of The Light’.

The Release – ‘Best Of Bowie’ by David Bowie (Selected Video)
After witnessing a brilliant performance by tribute band ‘Absolute Bowie’ at the Concorde 2 last weekend, I was inspired to seek out the hits of the late genius. This double album compilation was released in 2002 by EMI and features 39 of his greatest works spanning his glittering career. Timeless classics.

The Release – ‘Drunk’ by Anteros (Selected Video)
This week my choice is Anteros with their ‘Drunk’ EP. After another great live performance in Brighton, I have been listening to one of my all time favourite tracks ‘Cherry Drop’ from the EP.

The Release – ‘Blade Runner’ by Vangelis (Selected Video)
“I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.” For Roy Batty serial number N6MAA10816 ‘retired’ age 4. The best lines from the best film ever made in my opinion.

The Release – ‘Punk And Disorderly’ by Various Artists (Selected Video)
The 2nd wave of punk hit just as I left school and this was a must-have album; great sample of the studded leather music played whilst I dossed around street corners
Team Member – Rachel Griffin
The Release – ‘Worried Man’ by Andrew Combs (Selected Video)
This week I have been listening to ‘Worried Man’ by Andrew Combs. I love the phrasing of Andrew’s voice and his songs, and have seen him a few times locally, both solo and with a band. This album has received a lot more well-deserved attention and publicity, and is definitely worth a listen.

The Release – ‘Bring It On’ by Gomez (Selected Video)
I had so much fun at the Gomez gig in Bexhill, I treated myself to a vinyl copy of the 20th anniversary re-master of their Mercury Prize winning debut. It sounds superb, and as fresh and imaginative as it did back then.

The Release – ‘Until The Tide Creeps In’ by Penelope Isles (Selected Video)
Of course this week it has to be Brighton’s very own Penelope Isles’ stirring album ‘Until The Tide Creeps In’.
