The Release – ‘Of Mist And Murk’ by Fornoth (Selected Video)
Fornoth are good and their album is ‘Of Mist And Murk’. They are a great band from Dublin and I saw them in Hastings, best track ‘Sorrow’.

The Release – ‘what’s THIS for…!’’ by Killing Joke (Selected Video)
What I have been listening to this week. ‘what’s THIS for…!’ by Killing Joke. This album release coincided with my moving to West London from a village in the Scottish Borders and was my first purchase from my new local record store. A brilliant record. One of my all-time favourite bands and they are coming to Brighton on Monday.

The Release – ‘Body Bag Your Scene’ by Riskee And The Ridicule (Selected Video)
All you need to know is that you need to own this album! Riskee have set the bar high with this release, and for me the must have punk album of the year!
Stand out tracks? Well there’s 12 of them but if I have to choose a few, the beautiful haunting ‘In The Dark We Dwell’, the rousing ‘Kaboom!’ opener ‘Accelerate’ and the hard-hitting and heavy ‘Body Bag’.

The Release – ‘I Am Easy To Find’ by The National (Selected Video)
This week it’s ‘I Am Easy To Find’ by The National. Been out a while now but have come back to it from hearing ‘Rylan’ released as a single. REM meets Radiohead in a good way.
Team Member – Guy Ramone
The Release – ‘Revelations’ by Killing Joke (Selected Video)
Getting ready for Killing Joke’s Brighton gig and so this week I have selected ‘Revelations’, from 1982 with the opening song ‘The Hum’ being my choice.

The Release – ‘Starry Eyes’ by Baby Shakes (Selected Video)
The album? Well this week it has to be Baby Shakes – ‘Starry Eyes’. I missed Mary, Claudia and Judy when they brought a party to Brighton a few weeks ago. Gutted – love these guys. It’s an album full of fresh songs in a kinda punky vein with some Undertones and Ramones influences. This time of year the song I go to is ‘Summer Sun’ – reach for the sun screen and give it a whirl – a great video for this song. Check out ‘The Wonder Wheel’ if you saw the film The Warriors! Come back soon Baby Shakes!

The Release – ‘Noire’ by VNV Nation (Selected Video)
Having by chance via a link on Youtube watched the video of ‘Where Is The Future’ by VNV Nation again. So played their most recent ‘Noire’ album again. One of their best.

The Release – ‘Odelay’ by Beck! (Selected Video)
This week it’s Beck with ‘Odelay’. An absolute work of genius, and very possibly the zenith of his career.
Team Member – Mark Kite
The Release – ‘Mesopotamia’ by The B52’s (Selected Video)
My album this week is ‘Mesopotamia’ by the B52’s. What a brilliant band from the late 70’s. ‘Rock Lobster’ is one of my favourite songs of all time and the tracks on this album are on a par. Needs to be played loud with lots of dancing.

The Release – ‘Life’ by The Cardigans (Selected Video)
This week’s album selection is The Cardigans – ‘Life’. Their second album is chock-full of summery feel good indie pop.
Team Member – Michael Hundertmark
The Release – ‘Big Wows’ by Stealing Sheep (Selected Video)
It’s been a while since Liverpool’s Electro synth band have released new material. A More inspirational mix of 1980’s pop songs with a bit of Metronomy’ thrown in! Percussion and punchy colourful synths, quite different from their more folky earlier material.

The Release – ‘∑(No,12k,Lg,17Mif) New Order + Liam Gillick: So It Goes..’ by New Order + Liam Gillick (Selected Video)
Been so frantic of late, but thankfully finally got around to playing my copy of the latest New Order album. I played it without looking at the tracklisting and was pleasantly surprised by the choices of tracks and how seriously electronic they were. The setlist on this live album in the main was also not their obvious choices of tunes, which is a big plus. Barney’s vocals aren’t as strong as previous albums, but this album is rather dancey and most enjoyable. Surprising highlight ‘Plastic’ with it’s Giorgio Moroder beat.

The Release – ‘As The Tide Turns’ by Matilda’s Scoundrels (Selected Video)
This week ‘As The Tide Turns’ by Matilda’s Scoundrels. I’ve really got the bug of punk folk just recently, and this local band really know how to get the crowd jumping. Inspirational stuff.

The Release – ‘Run Home Slow’ by The Teskey Brothers (Selected Video)
I have been listening to the new album by The Teskey Brothers ‘Run Home Slow’ since its release last week, I just love Josh Teskey’s vocals and the bluesy rock they play. Listen to the 1st track ‘Let Me Let You Down’ and you just might be hooked, like me…
Team Member – Richie Nice
The Release – ‘Yhan Leal’ by Yhan Leal (Selected Video)
I came across this folk singer from Bellingen, New South Wales, on a visit to Australia, and was struck by the dreamy quality of his songs. Listening now takes me back to the big skies and lush, dramatic landscapes of that part of the world.
Team Member – Sara-Louise Bowrey
The Release – ‘Trailer Park’ by Beth Orton (Selected Video)
For this week’s album I’m going with an oldie. Beth Orton’s ‘Trailer Park’. Perfect for summer days sat in the sun.
