A storm is brewing over plans to build six three storey houses on greenfield land between Round Hill and a waste transfer station.
Carelet Homes already has permission to build four two-storey homes on land to the rear of 67-81 Princes Road, Brighton.
Now, to the dismay of the Round Hill Society, it has applied to build six three-storey, two bedroom terraced houses with pitched roofs and solar panels. It also plans private and communal gardens, waste and refuse facilities, and a street level lift gate-house with cycle store.
In a report on roundhill.org, the Round Hill Society says: “[This is] an attempt to capitalise on the Council’s failure to take open spaces policy seriously in a city which talks of becoming an urban biosphere. Once gone, the wildlife habitat alongside the Coastways railway corridor (a designated greenway) is unlikely ever to be recovered. New occupants would be subjected to dust, odour and noise from high-pressure cleaning equipment, lorries and trains.
