Gas leak closes two of Hove's busiest junctions

Two of the busiest junctions in Hove will be closed to traffic in one direction for three days running from tomorrow morning (Tuesday 16 August).

A northbound section of Sackville Road is being closed to traffic because of a gas leak between Blatchington Road and Portland Road.

Brighton and Hove Buses said: “All bus services that make the right turn from Blatchington Road into Sackville Road will be diverted via Eaton Villas and Clarendon Villas.

“A temporary stop will be placed in Eaton Villas in place of the stop by the Co-op in Blatchington Road.

“Services 49 and 49A heading towards Portslade will continue west from Church Road into New Church Road then turn right and head up Rutland Gardens to Portland Road.

“Services heading eastbound from Sackville Road and Portland Road to the city centre will be unaffected.”

the 49s should use that route all the time heading for portslade, its so much quicker

We live on Clarendon Villas and it is a nightmare having all these buses coming up our usually very quiet road.

I live in Clarendon Villas and the buses don’t bother me. It’s no more noisier than normal. Clarendon Villas is anything but quiet.
