Snowdogs auction raises £337k for Martlets Hospice

The auction of the 44 “snowdogs by the sea” in Brighton this evening raised £337,000 for the Martlets Hospice in Hove.

The event at the Corn Exchange, Brighton, drew hundreds of bidders for the fundraising snowdogs which have been on show around Brighton and Hove for the past few months.

Some of the bidders took part online as the lots were sold by auctioneer Tim Wonnacott, best known for presenting Bargain Hunt and his role in the Antiques Roadshow on BBC TV.

The three highest winning bids were £22,000 for Max, who was at Hove Museum, £20,000 for Boomer, who was at Hove Lagoon, and £15,000 for Smiley, who was in the North Laine.

To see how much each dog raised, see below.

We're pleased to announce our total figure from our auction tonight was a massive £337,000!!! Thank you!! #BrightonSnowdogs
