A church is hoping to move into a yoga studio.
The Ebenezer Reformed Baptist Church wants to convert the building in Queens Place, Brighton – between London Road and The Level.
But it faces opposition from one neighbour who is worried about the noise.
The objector, whose details are redacted on the council website, says: “This use of the property seems inappropriate for a largely residential area given the likelihood that
it will cause additional noise, particularly at antisocial times (evenings and weekends).
“The current use for this property (yoga studio), given the nature of such a venture, produces
relatively little noise. Despite this some activities can still be audible nearby.
“A church with regular services seems likely to have a significantly higher noise impact.
“This property directly adjoins several residential properties.
“Given the issues raised here I feel conversion to a church would be inappropriate and detrimental.”
The church has previously been meeting at St David’s Hall in Whitehawk. The application to move to Queens Place has been submitted by church elder Timothy Denning.
