A Brighton charity is asking people to send it pictures of the Brighton and Hove bus which has just been named after its founder as it travels across the city.
The newly named bus, number 753, honours Sir George Williams, who founded the YMCA movement in 1844 and was later knighted by Queen Victoria for his contribution to society.
YMCA Brighton put his name forward to highlight the organisation’s long-standing role in supporting adults across the city, including those experiencing or facing homelessness.
Hélène Begg, CEO of YMCA Brighton, said: “His belief in dignity, opportunity and community continues to guide our work with adults across Brighton today.
“Seeing his name on a city bus is a reminder of the positive change that happens when people are given the support they need to rebuild their lives.”
Rupert Cox, interim managing director for Brighton and Hove Buses, said: “The organisation plays a vital role in supporting adults across the city, and we’re proud to help shine a light on that work.
“We hope passengers enjoy spotting the bus and learning more about the impact YMCA Brighton has locally.”
Anyone sending in a picture also gets the chance to win a YMCA Brighton goody bag and have their photo featured on the charity’s Instagram page.
Residents who spot the bus are encouraged to send their photos directly to YMCA Brighton by emailing marie.macintosh@brightonymca.co.uk.

God bless the YMCA,
