A councillor has called for school buses to be provided for pupils who have to travel far from home because of a shortage of places.
Councillor Melanie Davis said parents from central areas of Brighton and Hove needed help to get their children to Benfield School, in Old Shoreham Road, Portslade, and West Blatchington Primary, in Hangleton Way, Hove.
A number of pupils have been allocated places at the two schools because there are not enough at oversubscribed central primaries.
Coun Davis, the opposition Labour education spokeswoman on Brighton and Hove City Council, has written to Conservative councillor Vanessa Brown, the education cabinet member, to raise the issue.
She asked: “Is the option of a special, supervised bus a viable option and when will this be known?”
Parents voiced their anger in March when the council allocated children to Benfield, even though the school does not currently have reception or Year One classes.
