Kemp Town fish and chip shop shuts

A fish and chip shop in Kemp Town has closed after the owners said that their landlord took possession of their premises.

The couple – Tomi and Bogi – who ran Little Jack Fullers Fish and Chips, in St James’s Street, wrote about the closure in a Facebook post on the Kemptown Community Noticeboard.

Thomas posted: “To all our wonderful Kemp Town and Brighton regulars, as many of you may have noticed over the last couple of days, our doors at Little Jack Fish and Chips have unexpectedly closed for good due to landlord repossession.

“Bogi and I are absolutely heartbroken that we didn’t get to say a proper goodbye in person.

“Serving this community over the last five years has been an absolute joy – from frying up your Friday night fish and chips to chatting with our lovely daily regulars.

“We put our hearts into every single order and loved being a part of Kemp Town’s daily life.

“While this chapter ended so suddenly, we aren’t done cooking in Brighton.

“We are both actively looking for our next opportunity in the local food scene – whether that’s in a kitchen, running a takeaway counter or joining a great local team.

“If you know of anyone looking for two hard-working experienced chefs/hospitality staff or if you just want to stay in touch, please send us a direct message.

“Thank you, Kemp Town, for all the love and support over the years. It truly meant the world to us.”

Bogi and Tomi

Their news was met with an outpouring of love and suport including positive messages from the former Brighton Kemptown MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle and the former leader of Brighton and Hove City Council, Nancy Platts.

Customers praised their passion and hard work as well as their vegan options, their curry sauce and their tasty fish and chips.

Landlords do not unexpectedly take possession of their property.
    What was the reason?

Think they might do if the property belongs to the estate of someone who recently passed on. There was a notice pertaining to the executor of the estate on the door.

Lovely chips and the portions were huge, great value for money, especially when compared to some other chippies.

Absolutely gutted. Nothing else like it that I’ve found anywhere in town.

    Really hope they’re back soon

Loved your vegan options. Hopefully you can find other premises. What about the Open Market on London Rd?

I can’t imagine the rent increases there will make it an attractive option.
