Less money is likely to be available for treating young people with drug problems in Brighton and Hove from next year.
The reduction is a result of a decision by the National Treatment Agency.
The agency has changed the funding formula that it uses to allocate money to 149 primary care trusts in England.
Councillor Vanessa Brown, cabinet member for Children and Young People, said: “This is disappointing given the need for our services and the innovative way we provide them.”
Cllr Brown said that Brighton and Hove Children’s and Young People’s Trust was committed to ensuring that it continued to provide an effective substance misuse treatment service for under 18s.
