A 45-year-old man from Portslade is due to appear before Brighton magistrates tomorrow (Thursday 4 September) accused of racially abusing a bus driver and bilking a taxi driver.

Brian David Hamilton, of Highlands Road, Portslade, has been charged with racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm and distress on bank holiday Monday (25 August).

Sussex Police said that he was also accused of making off without payment of a taxi fare on the same day.

He initially appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 26 August when he was remanded in custody until tomorrow.

I’d never seen the word “bilking” before today. What a sheltered life I have led.
