Brighton graffiti artists Aroe and Gary, responsible for some of the city’s most famous murals, have been painting the i360 hoardings today.
The boards, which face the sea, have been steadily taking shape all day, with the spraypaint only put away as the sun set.
Aroe, who painted the Run DMC mural in Kensington Street and the Star Wars mural opposite the Level, said: “There’s always been a progressive and productive scene here. Brighton is now known as a place for pushing and inventing new stuff.
“Any success I have I would credit to this city.”
Gary’s mural featured huge letters spelling out the word Bristelmstune – the name of Brighton listed in the Domesday book.
Leon, another local graffiti artist, came on board as they had so much space to fill.
In a few months time the i360 will be inviting a group of top European graffiti artists to come and do the next length of hoardings on the beach side.
