A Brighton vicar is due to talk about sex and sexuality at a meeting of bishops, clergy and lay members of the Church of England this weekend.
The Reverend Andrew Woodward, priest in charge of St Mary’s Kemp Town, will also speak about his role as the Bishop of Chichester’s liaison officer for the LGBT community.
Mr Woodward, who is also the Rural Dean of Brighton, was appointed in March to improve understanding between the church and LGBTQi (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning and intersex) community.
He is expected to join the Bishop of Chichester Martin Warner in a conversation about human sexuality at the Diocese of Chichester diocesan synod on Saturday (20 May).
They will be joined by the Bishop of Lewes Richard Jackson and the Reverend Simon Hobbs, chaplain to the Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Safeguarding is on the agenda, with the diocese having had to handle the fallout from historic child sex abuse cases.
The meeting, at Sussex Downs College, in Lewes, is also expected to hear about finance and to focus on other challenges facing the diocese as well as areas where progress has been made.
The diocese covers the whole of Sussex and has its head office in Hove.
