The Glorious Twelfth: Paradise regained as Brighton & Hove Albion are back in the top flight after 34 long years away

A great night of sport in Brighton and Hove

After 12,149 days away Brighton and Hove Albion are finally back in the big time.

Today the Seagulls play their first ever match in the Premier League, taking on the 2012 and 2014 champions Manchester City.

The club has had its fair share of much-publicised turmoil over the intervening 34 years.

Today’s match is expected to be Albion’s first top flight game with a home attendance in excess of 30,000 fans.

The match is a sell-out and live on BT Sport, with several local pubs expecting a full house.

The Seagulls are widely tipped to be relegated although it’s possible to get odds of 8-1 on them finishing the season in the top half of the table.

Regardless, the fans and everyone connected with the club will enjoy hopefully the first season of many watching Albion against some of the greatest players in the world in the greatest league in the world.
