Albion lead Swansea through a 17th minute Glenn Murray penalty after the striker was bundled over in the area.
Jose Izquierdo has been lively for Albion as has Ezequiel Schelotto down the right.
Swansea have had a couple of chances. Shane Duffy deflected a through ball towards goal that Maty Ryan had to react sharply to.
Then right at the end of the half Jordan Ayew saw his shot well saved by Ryan. The on-loan Chelsea striker hit the rebound wide.
