Thousands of people took part in the second Brighton Marathon yesterday and tens of thousands lined the route in warm sunshine.
But the sunny weather may have put off almost half the entrants from taking part, the organisers believe.
They sold all 15,000 places for the event but almost half failed to start and 7,774 runners completed the 26.2-mile route.

Olympic medallist Steve Cram started the race in Preston Park just after 9am and Sally Gunnell, who won Olympic gold in Barcelona, started the Mini Mile event.
The first runner to reach the finish line in Madeira Drive was Philemon Kiprop Boit.
The Kenyan’s time of 2 hours 16 minutes 7 seconds was almost three minutes quicker than the winning time last year.
Alyson Dixon, who hopes to compete in the 2012 Olympic Games in London, was the first woman home in 2:34:51.
Many of those taking part wore fancy dress for the event which is expected to raise millions of pounds for local, national and international charities.
The final finishers completed the course in just over nine hours.
Ten runners were treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with the heat, which touched 68F (20C), being blamed.
