Free bicycle security help for Hove cyclists

Cyclists in Hove will be given free security marking for their bikes as part of a Sussex Police day of action against bicycle crime tomorrow.
Officers will be at George Street from 10am giving advice and marking bikes so they can be recovered if stolen.
The day is the latest stage of a crackdown which last month saw a house raid where £56,000 in cash and five suspected stolen bikes were recovered.
PCSO Darren Penter said: “Bicycles are an easy target for thieves and vandals but there are measures cyclists can take to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.
“Savvy cyclists will invest both time and money in properly securing their bikes, making sure they use a high quality lock to secure the bike to a fixed object such as a bike rack and will lock up removable parts such as the wheels. Other tips include taking a clear photograph of the bike and taking down a full description, including any unique features.
“It is important to record and register your bike, as well as security marking the frame.”
