St James’s Street in Kemp Town, Brighton, was closed this evening after part of the balcony of a flat above the Tin Drum pub collapsed.

Nikki Bayley took this picture of the drama and posted it on Twitter

The front of the second floor balcony fell to the street below shortly before 9pm tonight.

Nikki Bayley, who lives in Kemp Town, said on Twitter: “Holy crap! The entire second floor balcony on the flat above [the Tin Drum] has fallen on the street.

“That would have been the crash noise we heard…”

Fortunately nobody was hurt, and by 10pm East Sussex Fire and Rescue had made the scene safe and the road was reopened.
