Hundreds of Brighton and Hove women took part in the Martlets Midnight Walk.

The annual event – in aid of the Martlets Hospice in Wayfield Avenue in Hove – was being held for the fourth year.

About 1,500 women took part in the 13-mile walk which started at Brighton Racecourse at midnight on Friday and finished there with breakfast early on Saturday morning.

Many wore fancy dress for the women-only event.

Last year the event raised more than £160,000 for the Martlets which has 18 beds for patients at its premises in Hove.

The hospice has running costs of nearly £12,000 a day.
