An elderly paedophile has been jailed for four years for abusing boys as young as nine.
Seventy-year-old David Lyn Jenkins, from Brighton, was sentenced at Lewes Crown Court yesterday after admitting four counts of sexual abuse.
He will be added to the sex offenders’ register and banned from having contact with boys under 16 for the rest of his life. He will be under close supervision for five years after his release.
Jenkins had previously been involved with the Boy’s Brigade and organised schoolboy football coaching between 1995 and 2000.
He admitted abusing one boy between 2005 and 2009, when the child was aged between nine and 13, and another 13-year-old in 1968.
He spent much of his life living around Redhill and Reigate in Surrey, where he also served as a magistrate.
He lived at Heather Walk, in Smallfield, Surrey, at the time of the offence in 2009.
Detective Constable Dani Flude, from Sussex Police, said: “I would like to thank the brave victims who came forward and helped police with the investigation. Their courage has ensured Jenkins is not free to destroy the lives of other young boys.”
