Scores of Brighton residents have signed a petition asking the council to deal with the eyesore Anston House tower block by Preston Park.
More than 120 names have been adding to the plea for Brighton and Hove City Council to issue a compulsory purchase order for the long-derelict office complex.
Senior members of the council have previously identified the site as a potential location for new housing and office space but have been unable to persuade its owners to develop the area.
The petition reads: “Local residents feel very strongly that this site should be used to provide affordable homes, affordable workspace, and community facilities, including much-needed meeting space. Such a development would bring huge benefit to the local community, who have had to live alongside this derelict site and all the attendant anti-social behaviour it has attracted over the years.”
