A27 sliproad into Brighton to close each night next week

Drivers coming into Brighton on the A27 from the Lewes direction next week will find the usual sliproad into the city closed overnight.

The closure – at the top end of Moulsecoomb – is related to work connected with the new Brighton and Hove Albion football stadium at Falmer.

The southbound sliproad taking traffic from the A27 to the A270 Lewes Road will be shut from Monday night as resurfacing takes place.

The closure, stretching from the A27 to the Coldean traffic lights, will be in force from 9pm to 6am.

The road will reopen each morning in time for daytime traffic.

Overnight closures are expected to last from Monday (18 October) to Friday (22 October).

Brighton and Hove City Council said that the work was being carried out at night to minimise disruption and to keep drivers and contractors as safe as possible.

During this night closure, A27 traffic coming from the Lewes direction will continue along the A27 and join the A270 via Coldean Lane.

The northbound A270 will be unaffected as will south of Coldean lights on the southbound A270.

Access to Stanmer Park will be maintained at all times.

There will also be daytime surfacing work in the area, due to start on Monday week (25 October) for two weeks.

However, disruption during that work is expected to be minimal as traffic management arrangements will be the same as those throughout recent work at the spot.

More information about roadworks in Brighton and Hove can be found via the council’s Journey on website.
