Thefts and vandalism at allotments in Portslade will be on the agenda for the local action team (LAT) there this evening (Monday 21 May).
The LAT is meeting at the Village Centre at 7pm when an update will be given.
The meeting will hear more about the neighbourhood councils about to be piloted by Brighton and Hove City Council.
The update follows news at the previous LAT meeting in March about changes to the council’s community development commissioning and funding.
The changes mean that the community development budget for the whole of Brighton and Hove has been cut from £400,000 to £300,000.The neighbourhood councils pilots will be funded with the £100,000 saving.
While some areas have had their funding completely cut, the LAT was told, Portslade will receive the same amount of funding as last year but with a broader area to cover.
The bigger patch will include the Portland Road area while there will be a greater focus on South Portslade.
Council official Phil Clarke will also report to this evening’s meeting on the lowering of the speed limit. It is now 30mph in Old Shoreham Road to the east of Southern Cross. And several local roads are having their limit cut to 20mph.
The LAT is proposing to hold an open day next month to try to involve more people from Portslade in supporting the community.
