A Brighton teenager has died in hospital a day after being involved in a car crash on Race Hill.

Alex Jackson, 19, was one of three people to suffer life-threatening injuries in the crash in Warren Road in the early hours of Thursday morning (27 November).

Mr Jackson died yesterday (Friday 28 November). His fellow passengers, Chantelle Marriott, 18, and Scott Hammond, 22, both also from Brighton, were in a critical condition in hospital.

Another friend, Sharief Ruhomally, 29, from Peacehaven, who was driving, suffered serious injuries in the crash. He also remains in hospital.

They were in a BMW 318L which crashed just after midnight with a blue and white Skoda taxi.

The 26-year-old taxi driver, from Brighton, suffered minor injuries.

Sussex Police said: “Officers need to speak to anyone who saw the collision or who saw either of the vehicles being driven in the minutes beforehand.”

Anyone with information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101 or email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk.
