Raj Pavilion in Preston Road was found to have bad hygiene and structural compliance.

The Brighton and Hove City Council inspector also said she had little confidence in its management.

The inspection, made on March 4, was published today on the Scores on the Doors website.

Owner Ziaur Rahan said the restaurant was working hard on improving things.

He said: “We have done 90% of what she asked us to do – cleaning the fixtures and lights and doors and staff toilets.

“We have been painting too, and getting our records up to date.

“Whatever tasks she’s given us, we have done and when she comes next week she will see that.

“Hopefully we will get five stars soon.”

Meanwhile, three more city restaurants have been give one star ratings.

Streets Cafe, which moved to the new Open Market in Brighton after many years trading in the former one, Curry Leaf takeaway in Portland Road, Hove, and Red Planet Pizza in Beaconsfield Road, Brighton, were all found to have poor hygiene and told to make major improvements.
