Albion striker Baldock on Bristol City and his pre-match routine

Albion striker Baldock on Bristol City and his pre-match routine

Albion striker Sam Baldock has put a positive spin on his team’s below-par performance at Elland Road, saying it’s the sign of a good  team to not be at their best but still come away with three points.

IMG_0774.JPGThe former Bristol City striker says the team were quite relieved to come away with a win against Leeds on Saturday, after Zamora and March scored a goal each to bring the score to 1-2.

Baldock also thought that The Robins were quite similar to the Seagulls telling us “both clubs are still thriving to improve – the improvements made here in the last four or five years is being mirrored with what Bristol City are doing now”.

Adding “they have made changes to stadium, brought in a lot of good players in and the structure behind the scenes. They have turned the corner and have turned it quite sharply.”

City are mangaged by ex-Albion loan player Steve Cotterill. Cotterill scored four times in 11 Albion appearances for the Seagulls back in 1992.

Baldock remarked that in his time at City,  Cotterill gave him the confidence to think that he (Baldock) could score in every game and got the best out of him.

He said: ” I wouldn’t have been the top scorer in League One if it wasn’t for him – he is very thorough and detailed, that translates onto the pitch through his players.”

The Albion number 9 also gave Brighton and Hove News an insight into his evening match day routine telling us: ” I tend to get up normal time, like if I am getting up to come here (Lancing training ground) I might chill out for a few hours, get my head down for a while  around 12pm, have pre- match meal here and then we meet at the ground for about 4:30pm.

“There is not usually training on match days but I might go for a walk, but nothing too strenuous.”

Albion have minor injury worries in relation to Gatean Bong, Liam Rosenior and Gordon Greer ahead of tonight’s match, which may also come to soon for the Kazenga Lua Lua to make his come back from injury.
