Brighton and Hove Albion return home from Preston with a point after a goalless draw at Deepdale this afternoon (Saturday 5 March).

It was Albion’s fifth no score draw in the Championship this seaso and the club’s 11th draw on the road.

Twice Albion netted but twice they were denied by the offside rule.Dale Stephens played in a free kick from which Jamie Murphy scored in added time at the end of the first half. The linesman, though, ruled it out.

Murphy subsequently had a shot saved by Chris Kirkland but the Preston keeper couldn’t hold on to it. Tomer Hemed struck the loose ball home, only for his effort to be disallowed.

Albion stay fourth. On Tuesday (8 March) the Seagulls host the Owls when Sheffield Wednesday visit Falmer. Next Saturday (12 March) Reading are due at the Amex.
