Brighton & Hove Albion 3 Brentford 3
Albion grabbed a point with an 89th minute Alexis Mac Allister penalty after coming from behind three times at the Amex.
The Seagulls looked to have the better of the opening exchanges but were stung by the Bees in the 10th minute of the match.
Pontus Jansson met a cross from Mathias Jenson to head the visitors in front.
The equaliser came courtesy of a long ball from keeper Jason Steele 11 minutes later. Kaoru Mitoma showed his pace and skill, lobbing David Raya as he dashed forward.
Thomas Frank’s side reclaimed the lead just over a minute later when Bryan Mbeumo fed the ball to Ivan Toney who made no mistake.
Solly March set up the reply on 28 minutes, crossing towards the goal where Danny Welbeck headed home from close range.
If the first half was frantic, the second half started in similar fashion, with Brentford regaining their advantage less than five minutes from the off.
Ethan Pinnock managed to make space in the box to slot home a free kick from Mbeumo.
The visitors were under siege for much of the rest of the half as Brighton surged forward in their quest to rescue the game.
Salvation came from the spot after Aaron Hickey handled the ball in the 89th minute and Mac Allister converted with confidence.
Brighton might even have had another penalty in the six minutes of added time when the ball bounced off Hickey’s arm from a March cross. Instead, the match ended on level terms.
