Brighton and Hove Albion plan to introduce safe standing to part of the Amex Stadium in time for the start of next season, the club has announced.
It follows a detailed consultation with season ticket-holders and supporters, more than 80 per cent of whom were in favour of the change.
Safe standing has been in use in the Premier League and EFL (English Football League) since 2022.
It followed the introduction of the Football Spectators (Seating) Order, which allowed clubs to fit railings for supporters in some areas of a stadium to stand if they wished.
The club’s head of ticketing and supporter services Jenny Gower said: “I’d like to thank the season ticket-holders for their feedback.
“We had a fantastic response to our survey and a very strong majority in favour of installing safe standing towards the back of the North Stand.
“We will help any season ticket-holders who want to move and the impact of safe standing will be regularly reviewed.
“But we are confident it will make the atmosphere in the North Stand even better and help Fabian Hürzeler and the team.”
The changes are expected to reflect the installations used at Brentford’s GTech Community Stadium.
Albion said that the capacity of the Amex would not be altered from its current 31,876.
