Date set for new Aldi to open

DIY store to become supermarket if planners agree

Aldi is to open its latest store in Old Shoreham Road, Hove, on Thursday 4 December at 8am.

The new supermarket, in the old Homebase premises, will be run by store manager Jason Mills, and a team of 30 colleagues from the local community.

Aldi said that, as part of its investment in local communities across the country, the new store would offer more customers access to Aldi’s high-quality, low-price products.

The company quoted consumer group Which? saying that the chain was Britain’s cheapest supermarket for 2024 – the fourth year in a row that it had been awarded this title.

The new store will offer fresh British meat products with weekly offers, Aldi’s award-winning “Specially Selected” range, exclusive beers, wines and spirits, and a “food to go” section at the front of the store.

Aldi said that it would also offer its “legendary Specialbuys” in the middle aisle every Thursday and Sunday, offering extraordinary value on a wide range of products, from electrical items to garden tools.

And to celebrate the partnership between ParalympicsGB and Aldi, Jason Mills and his team will be joined by Paralympic gold medallist Will Bayley to celebrate the store opening by cutting the all-important ribbon on opening morning.

Mr Bayley will also give away free bags of fresh fruit and veg from Aldi’s “Super 6” range to the first 30 customers in the queue.

Aldi store manager Jason Mills said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store in Hove.

“It’s set to be a special day and having Paralympic hero Will Bayley join us will make it a morning to remember.”

The table tennis star said: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store. It will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of ParalympicsGB.”

The new Aldi store is also calling on local charities and food banks in Hove to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community.

Local charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, seven days a week.

Any charities in the area that would like to partner up with the new Aldi store should email aldi@neighbourly.com.

The new store is at 182 Old Shoreham Road, Hove, and will be open from 8am to 10pm on Mondays to Saturdays and from 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
