A developer wants to convert an abandoned police box into a two-bedroom house in Fiveways.
The one-storey brick building in Stanford Avenue, known as The Police Box, has been empty for decades.
Permission was granted to convert it into a home in 2008, but not progressed.
Now developer HGP Developments Ltd, owned by Graham Halfacree and Harvey Sampson, has applied to extend it to the front and add an extra floor.
A planning application, written by Wilbury Planning, says: “The Police Box has not been used for many years, and it is disused and redundant.
“The site comprises a windfall site that has otherwise become available for residential development.
“Furthermore, the condition of the site is such that it is continuing to fall into a state of disrepair, and it’s
enclosed external area to the rear is at risk of becoming associated with vagrants.
“The contrived size and scale of The Police Box means that it would not be conducive for a continued commercial use.
“As such the proposed conversion and extension of the building to create a single dwellinghouse will ensure the most efficient use of the site.”
Two bike parking spaces would be included, but no off-street car parking. An air source heat pump would be installed.
The plot was sold for £140,000 in December last year. It was previously listed for auction in 2007 with a guide price of between £70,000 and £90,000.
