Thousands of runners are due to take part in the annual Brighton Marathon this morning (Sunday 12 April).
The marathon is one of three events over a weekend festival of running, with road closures across the 26.2-mile course for much of the day.
About 20,000 participants have singed up for at least one of the three events – the Brighton Miles, the Brighton and Hove 10K and the Brighton Marathon.
England international and Rugby World Cup winner Jess Breach is due to be the official starter.
Brighton and Hove City Council said: “To ensure the safety of participants and spectators, road closures, parking suspensions and footpath closures will be in operation.
“In the lead-up to the event, you will spot yellow road closure signs displayed on affected roads.
“Parking suspensions will be in place across the route so please check your area for suspension signage.
“On event day, police officers and stewards will help answer your queries and to ensure a safe and secure event.”
Most of the road closures affect the seafront and parallel roads as well as a stretch at the southern end of the A23.
