Radio 4’s Mitch Benn brings one-night Brighton show as part of UK tour

The Mitch Benn Lehrer effect at Brighton Fringe

Comedian, satirical songwriter and musician Mitch Benn brings a one-night-only show to Brighton this May in Brighton Fringe as part of a wider UK tour. This performance takes place at Laughing Horse @ a&o Hostel bar (Front Room) on 13 May at 7.30pm.

Benn aka Radio Four’s Mitch Benn, is best known as the long-running resident comic songwriter on BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show, where he performed from 1999 to 2016. Over his career he has built a reputation as one of the UK’s most established musical comedians, combining stand-up with sharply written satirical songs.

His online work has also drawn a large audience, with tracks such as Everybody in America is Female reaching over a million views. Other well-known songs include Fuck All, Moving to Scotland and Proud of the BBC.

Benn began performing in Edinburgh in the mid-1990s before becoming a regular fixture on the UK comedy circuit. He has since toured internationally and released multiple comedy albums.

Alongside his solo work, he founded The Distraction Club in central London, a monthly night showcasing musical comedy talent with a live house band.

His wider career includes BBC radio and television work, including his own radio comedy series, appearances on Watchdog, The Comedy Store, and acting roles in productions such as Merlin and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy live tour.
