Circus of Sound events – The Skep at Moulsecoomb Place at Brighton Fringe

On every Thursday evening in May, Culture Shift and East Brighton Trust are hosting a series of Circus of Sound events at the newly refurbished venue The Skep at Moulsecoomb Place.

The format of each event will be different, showcasing a diverse array of local artists and artforms:

  • 7th May – live semi-acoustic music, including Brighton band Thrillhouse (their new album ‘Smile’ entered the Indie album chart at number 19 this month)
  • 14th May – premiere performance of new play, ‘Bad Indian’ by Saaj Raja. This is a bold, darkly comic one man show about growing up between cultures and the cost of choosing authenticity over expectation. There will be a Q & A after the performance.
  • 21st May – a Writer’s Block Brighton event hosted by award-winning Flo poet, Woodzy who is well known to Brighton audiences as a TedX speaker and has even performed with Stormzy. Alongside Woodzy, there will be special guests and open mic slots.
  • 28th May – a VICE VERSA event on the theme of Care and Culture, combining conversation and creative responses, hosted by Culture Shift patron, Michael Attenborough CBE.

Culture Shift curates programmes, events and festivals with care, creativity and social impact – inspiring positive shifts within individuals, groups and communities, especially those facing significant health inequalities and are most excluded from creative opportunities, including disabled adults, adult and young carers, people with Dementia and families experiencing poverty.

East Brighton Trust supports social investment to create lasting change and foster a sense of belonging within the community of East Brighton, through initiatives like The Westergate Business Centre and The Bevy Community Pub and, most recently, Moulsecoomb Place.
