Queer Bloomsbury, Charleston Farmhouse, 15th August 2026

Queer Bloomsbury returns to Charleston Farmhouse in Sussex on 15 August 2026, for a night of queer excellence, strange explorations in the garden, very queer talks and a Midsummer Party.

Charleston Farmhouse has put together a thrilling summer programme of in-conversation events bringing together bold voices and brilliant minds to share stories, spark ideas, explore contemporary issues and make sense of the world. Held in the beautifully restored Hay Barn at Charleston in Firle, these intimate events form part of Summer at Charleston, which also sees the House, Gardens and Galleries at both sites opening seven days a week, 10 am–5 pm, from 22 July to 6 September.

Queer Bloomsbury is set to be one of the highlights, a whole evening of celebration and exuberance.

The evening will start with The Moment – A special commission featuring keynote talks from queer royalty, including writer Shon Faye, theatremaker and writer Travis Alabanza and queer rights speaker and activist Lady Phyll.

Queer Bloomsbury, Charleston Farmhouse, 15th August 2026Throughout the evening, Charleston House and Gardens will be turned into a Queer Fayre so you can frolic and encounter performances, live art, and a fine selection of wild queers taking up residence in the greenery. Travis Alabanza, Shon Faye and Jodie Mitchell will explore ways that queer imagination can confront, subvert or transform the world.

As twilight descends, Charleston Farmhouse will come to life with DJs, performances, and debauchery. Conjuring ghosts of queers past and gossip of queer future, the audience will be invited to dance into the night with DJ Michelle Manetti and party with a line-up of Special Guests across the evening.

Events at Charleston Farmhouse always go out of their way to add interest and diversity, using their special environment to celebrate art and culture as fully as possible. This night seems to hold so much potential, a chance to explore and relish in this community’s abilities and talents in a space that holds such relevance.

If you want to join for some or all of these events, tickets are now on sale from the Charleston Farmhouse website.
