Volunteers are planning to spruce up one end of one of the best paths in the country tomorrow – and it’s on the doorstep. Can you help?
The Ramblers held a competition to find Britain’s best trail paths and the Dyke Railway Trail came out top in the south east – and fourth in a nationwide vote.
Now, the Brighton and Hove City Council Tidy Up Team has posted a shout out: “Help us to give this area a spruce up.
“We will be painting the height barrier, clearing vegetation, edging paths, clearing litter and carrying out other tasks to improve the entrance to the path.”
The Dyke Railway Trail Big Tidy Up is due to take place from 10am to 1pm on Sunday (30 August) in the car park just off Hangleton Way.
The name of the trail reflects its history as an old railway branch line between Aldrington and the Devil’s Dyke, opened in 1887. It close just over 50 years later.
