Two suspected drug dealers are due to appear in the crown court next month.

Sussex Police said: “Officers arrested two men on Friday 14 August after intercepting a car believed to be involved in drug dealing in the Regency area in Brighton.

“Proactive police patrols were being carried out in Brighton when officers spotted a vehicle in Clarence Square being driven in a suspicious manner.

“Members of the public were seen approaching the vehicle, getting inside and leaving a short time later.

“Further suspicious activity was observed as the car travelled towards Grand Parade, leading officers to conduct a vehicle stop and detain two men.”

Class A drugs and cash were seized from the vehicle, police said, and two men were arrested and taken into custody.

The next day (Saturday 15 August), the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorised charges – and two men then appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court.

Mitchell Kinner, 41, of Saunders Park Rise, Brighton, appeared before the bench charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin, a class A drug.

Kinner was also charged with three counts of having a class A drug – and he admitted that he had had heroin, crack cocaine and MDMA, also known as ecstasy.

He was committed to the crown court for sentence for having the drugs and remanded on conditional bail.

The conditions included a 7pm to 7am curfew each night, reporting to the police station, in John Street, Brighton, between 10am and 4pm each day and living and sleeping at his home in Saunders Park Rise.

Adam Powney, 39, of Honeybridge Lane, Dial Post, was charged with having heroin with intent to supply. He was remanded in custody.

Both men are due to appear in the crown court on Friday 11 September.
