The March Violets announce intimate Brighton concert

The March Violets

Goth outfit The March Violets are heading back to Brighton on 11th November 2026. This truly does promise to be an intimate affair as they will be performing live at the compact Komedia Studio in the heart of North Laine. Tickets have just gone on sale and are available for purchase from HERE.

Back in the day, The March Violets had a great name, coming from the same Leeds scene as Sisters Of Mercy. In fact they were branded as one of that city’s four famous ‘drum machine bands’, with the other two being Red Lorry Yellow Lorry and The Three Johns.

The March Violets impressive post-punk legacy stretches from 1980s BBC John Peel sessions, indie chart successes ‘Radiant Boys’ EP, ‘Grooving In Green’, ‘Snake Dance’ and ‘Turn To The Sky’ (featured in the John Hughes movie, ‘Some Kind Of Wonderful’), all the way to the 21st century reunion, headlining festivals across Europe & the USA and storming Record Store Day 2021 and 2022 with sell-out double albums Big Soul Kiss and Made Glorious.

Founder-members Rosie Garland (performer, poet and author) and Tom Ashton (guitarist, producer) are now joined by Mat Thorpe (bassist and vocalist). The band has enjoyed rapturous receptions on UK / EU / USA tours, including headline shows at legendary Wave Gotik Treffen (Germany), Levitation (Austin TX), A Murder of Crows (NYC), Southern Gothic (Athens GA), DarkMad (Madrid), Dark Malta, Deadinburgh & Tomorrow’s Ghosts Festival (Whitby Goth Weekend).

In 2023 The March Violets performed a headline set at Brighton’s Chalk venue, and the following year they released ‘Crocodile Promises’ (Metropolis Records), which was their first album for 10 years, featuring all-new material. Last year, the band rocked on up at The Hope & Ruin and now they are heading back, with the added bonus of Simon Price from popular Goth/80’s electro club night Spellbound on the decks!
