The Coal Shed is celebrating its 15th anniversary next month with a new fixed menu at 2011 prices.
The steak restaurant, which specialises in cooking over coals, first opened in Boyce Street, Brighton, in 2011.
It has since moved to a larger home in North Street, and opened a branch in London. Its parent company, Black Rock restaurants, has gone on to open a clutch of venues in Brighton including the Salt Shed, Burnt Orange, Tutto and, in the original Boyce Street unit, Crazy Goose.
To mark the occasion, it’s launched an anniversary menu priced at £35 per person – with an optional three-glass wine pairing for another £35.
The starter is a BBQ Jacob’s Ladder (beef short rib), followed by dry aged chateaubriand steak, beef dripping chips and peppercorn sauces, with a sticky toffee pudding topped with beef fat caramel and vanilla ice cream to end.
Raz Helalat, founder of The Coal Shed, says: “When we opened The Coal Shed in Brighton in 2011, everything centred around great produce, fire and generous hospitality.
“Fifteen years later, those values haven’t changed. This menu gives us the chance to bring back some of the dishes our earliest guests still remember, at a price inspired by where it all began. It’s our way of celebrating the people, suppliers and guests who have been part of the journey.”
In Brighton, the anniversary menu will run alongside OctoberBEST, joining the city-wide celebration of Brighton’s restaurant scene. The London restaurant will serve the same menu simultaneously, bringing the 15-year story to both cities.
The 15 Years of Beef & Fire anniversary menu is available from Monday 12 to Sunday 25 October 2026, priced at £35 per person for three courses.
