Landing ahead of the band’s biggest headline tour to date, plus dates supporting Shaking Hand, Brighton post-rock/folk quartet Ladylike stylised as ‘ladylike’ and comprised of Georgia Butler (guitar, vocals) Spencer Withey (guitar, synth, backing vocals) Archie Sagers (bass) James Ely (drums), returned with intimate new single ‘Borrowed Time’, which dropped on 15th September via Heist or Hit (Her’s, Westside Cowboy, The Slow Country, Makeshift Art Bar).
Shacking up in a renovated chapel studio in Pembrokeshire, Wales with producer Balázs Altsach (Ugly, Orchestra (for now)) ‘Borrowed Time’ sees the band bring a more experimental approach to the studio, recording, mixing and mastering the track within a rapid three week stretch. Tracked by the band together in the same room, it feels tantalisingly exposed, loaded with the spontaneity of off-the-cuff performance, its deft musical storytelling rising and falling between momentous rushes of slowcore and the stock-stillness of folk.

Capturing the gentle yet immersive drama of the band’s cinematic live sets, 2026 has seen ladylike play sold-out headline shows in Brighton and London, a support tour with the Orielles, and shows at The Great Escape (First Fifty), building on festival appearances at Green Man, Dot to Dot, Left of The Dial and Outer Town, plus gigs with Ugly, mary in the junkyard, Lime Garden, villagerr.
It’s also their first release since March debut EP ‘It’s A Pleasure Of Mine, To Know You’re Fine’ landed in the top 10 on the folk charts, won airplay on BBC 6music (Emily Pilbeam, Huw Stephens, New Music Fix), Radio X (John Kennedy), and BBC Radio Scotland (Roddy Hart), alongside tastemaker backing from The Line of Best Fit, So Young, DIY, Under The Radar, Rough Trade, Hard of Hearing, and more.

Speaking more about the track, vocalist/guitarist Georgia Butler says: “This track is loosely about losing contact with someone and how time goes by, your lives are separate and you never quite get back to the same place at the same time.”
