A man’s body has been recovered from the sea in Rottingdean this morning (Sunday 11 October).

The beach and a section of the undercliff walk were cordoned off as the emergency services worked at the scene.

Sussex Police said: “At around 9.40am on Sunday (11 October), officers responded to concerns for the welfare of a man who had been seen at the water’s edge on Rottingdean beach.

“The man was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene and inquiries remain ongoing to establish his identity and the circumstances of how he came to be in the water.

“Emergency services continue to work in the area and no further information is available at this time.”
